This season, I had the pleasure of reading some truly outstanding books that left an indelible impression on my heart. As a passionate bibliophile, I am eager to share my thoughts and experiences with our wonderful audience, and engage in insightful conversations with Nova and Tobi, who always bring their unique perspectives to the table. Our spirited discussions have not only broadened my literary horizons but also strengthened our friendship, making “Tuesday’s Book Club” a cherished part of my week.

I loved reading all the books we talked about this season and here are a few that really stood out to me.

The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz

The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz is a powerful book that offers a code of conduct for living a meaningful and fulfilling life. For those who are immersed in the world of social media, the book can provide a much-needed perspective on how to navigate this complex and often overwhelming landscape. The Four Agreements encourage individuals to be impeccable with their word, not to take anything personally, not to make assumptions, and always to do their best. These agreements can help social media users to communicate more effectively, to avoid getting caught up in drama, to avoid making assumptions about others, and to stay focused on their goals and values. Moreover, the book invites readers to examine their beliefs and to question the assumptions that underlie them. By adopting the Four Agreements as a way of life, social media users can transform their interactions with others and create a more harmonious and fulfilling experience for themselves and those around them.

Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill

Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill is a timeless classic that has inspired countless entrepreneurs to achieve success in their small businesses. It offers practical and actionable advice on how to develop a mindset that attracts wealth and prosperity, as well as how to take action towards achieving your goals. Parents who are looking to start or grow their small business can benefit greatly from the insights shared in this book. Moreover, children can also learn valuable lessons on the importance of perseverance, positive thinking, and goal setting from this book. By reading and applying the principles outlined in Think and Grow Rich, families can build a solid foundation for their businesses and set themselves up for success.

The Cafe on the Edge of the World by John Strelecky

The Cafe at the Edge of the World by John Strelecky is a thought-provoking and inspiring book that can have a profound impact on anyone who wants to make a positive difference in the world. This book affected me greatly. After I was Honorably Discharged from the Military, I earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration, and eventually ended up working in the physical security field, working as a consultant on and off through out this time. For over twenty years I focused on working, hoping that by the time I retired, I would finally be able to enjoy my life. This book changed my mindset. I am currently an Administrator and I chose this career to balance my family life, my work life, my service life and also enjoying time off with my loved ones, whenever I please. Every thing I do is now with the intention of living life to the fullest. The book provided a unique perspective on life and help to deepen their understanding of what truly matters. The story revolves around a man who is struggling with the meaning of his life and visits a cafe where he meets a wise and enlightened server. The server challenges him to question his beliefs and values, and to consider what he wants his legacy to be. For a mother who wants to be of service and help people, this book can be particularly impactful. It can inspire her to find a way to use her skills and talents to make a positive difference in the lives of others, and to create a legacy that she can be proud of.

The Joy Luck Club

The Joy Luck Club is one of my all time favorite book. Although it was solely based around the Chinese culture, I believe that this story resonates in other cultures around the World. As a child of Haitian Immigrants, I was very moved by this story and it made me think of my mother.

The story of my mother’s journey shares many similarities with the mothers in The Joy Luck Club. Despite the hardships and adversity they faced, they all possessed an unyielding determination and resilience to overcome the obstacles that stood in their way. The mothers in the book, like my mother, were born into challenging circumstances and had to fight for a better life. They all understood the value of hard work and the importance of education in achieving success. They made great sacrifices and worked tirelessly to provide their children with opportunities that they themselves may not have had.

Furthermore, my mother’s honesty and integrity mirror the mothers in the book who always spoke their truth and did not shy away from exposing secrets. This trait, while sometimes causing friction, is a testament to their courage and strength. Like the mothers in The Joy Luck Club, my mother’s tenacity and charisma enabled her to find ways to support herself and our family, despite the many obstacles in her path. The common thread between my mother and the mothers in the book is their unwavering determination to give their children a better life, and their commitment to working hard to make that a reality. Their stories are a testament to the human spirit, and a reminder of the resilience and strength that can be found in the face of adversity.

Please take the time to listen to my friends and I have a great time discussing some amazing books. I posted the links below to the various apps our Podcasts are on.
