Father’s Day!!!

Fathers Day!! Core memories are defined as memories based on human emotions that return to consciousness during times when that emotion is primary. The other day, Frank Sinatra was singing his ode to NY on the radio and I immediately began feeling a rush of pure happiness mixed with longing. I recalled a time when my dad used to play a recording of my two yr old sister and I singing “I love NY” and every time he played it he was so amused as he sang along. He loved reminding us of that recording, even after it was lost. Then I think of him holding my Angie and singing to her of going back to Port Au Prince, his voice is deep and beautiful. She’d stare at him, mesmerized by the melody. I would ask my dad to please let me record him..it never happened but when I close my eyes, I hear his voice..so lovely and smooth.

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there making these same core memories for their children. You are truly loved and appreciated. 💙💙
